If a LARGE church is not for you, you are welcome to join us at OTM any Sunday Morning at 9 a.m
Oak Terrace Mission is an extension of the church’s preaching and Bible Study ministries in the midst of three government housing projects originally designed for Senior Citizens. Sunday morning worship services, with a focus on Senior Adults, are conducted at 9:00 a.m. with Bible Study immediately following.
The Mission started in the early 1960's in the former Red River Courts. About 1967, the church secured a small frame building on North Lindsey Street and moved the Mission there, renaming it after the adjacent new government housing project, Oak Terrace. A new building was constructed in 1971, and its space doubled in 1977. The current Mission is primarily designed for ministry to Senior Adults and is self-supporting financially. In 1995, a Sunday School class for children living in the area was started. Oak Terrace has its own Sunday School teacher, elected by the sponsoring church, its own minister of music, and its own music accompanist. The pastor of the sponsoring church also serves as the mission pastor.
A Nutrition Ministry for Senior Adults was begun in 1977 and is operated under the auspices of the Senior Citizens Services of Texarkana. The church provides the space without charge on weekdays for this ministry which operates from 9:00 a.m. until 1 p.m.
